Hi Reader How are you getting on with your Food Waste Toolkit? Once you’ve filled out the inventory sheets, it takes very little time to keep them up to date. However, I get that starting out can feel a bit daunting. Maybe you’ve already had a quick look in your freezer, then shut the door again. Don’t worry, just do one shelf or drawer today. Who knows, you might even find tonight’s dinner! Essential Food Waste Money Saving Tool Kit.pdf (here it is again in case you missed it) This is food you’ve already spent your hard earned money on. Think of it like listing your assets or money off this week’s food bill! If you find food you are never going to eat or things that are past their use by date – just get rid of them. Sometimes we just need to start afresh. Now is also a good time to start making room in your freezer for Christmas. It can take time to get through stuff and you don't want to find you have no room to store everything you need or those leftovers after the big day. For example, lots of people tend to have ice cream and ice lollies left over from the summer. From a quality point of view, these are best eaten soon. Remember that Best Before dates are only about taste and texture and not safety so foods that have gone beyond their Best Before dates are still perfectly ok to eat.
