Getting your Christmas Food Shop List Ready PLUS recipes

Hi Reader

This week, I've been planning my food menus for Christmas and so I thought I'd share some tips with you. These are the things I'm doing to get ready food wise. Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing more tips to help you get ready for Christmas and get the most out of the food you buy.

  1. Eating up food in my freezer. Christmas food is expensive and it's important to make room for those leftovers.
  2. Getting ahead and making Christmas food I can put in the freezer. My super easy Mince Pie recipe is already popular and you can freeze them un-baked, ready for when you need them. I've included the recipe below as I know many of you have started baking.
  3. When ordering food for Christmas, don't be tempted to order too much. One portion of vegetables is about 80g. However, as we have more vegetables than normal for Christmas dinner, I calculate a bit less, around 70g.
  4. Turkey. When ordering a whole turkey, order about 450g / 1lb per person. For a boneless turkey breast, about 225g / 1/2lb per person. If you want to have leftovers, you can increase the amount. I normally increase by 50% to account for leftovers.
  5. Don't feel you have to buy 'all the trimmings' and don't buy things people don't like, just because it's traditional.

Below you'll find some handy Christmas recipes, plus a couple for this week!
